This book is about a former child laborer who started freeing other children who were sent to child labor. After he escapes twice from his master at the carpet factory, he sends police to the factory to put the master in jail. He then goes to the headquarters of the bonded liberation front and starts working there to free enslaved children. I think this is a great book because it has a lot of conflict and suspense.

Ethan-The Place of Lions, by Eric Campbell, 208 pages.
A truly wonderful book that will keep you from putting it down and keep you thinking. Shows the true side of Africa and also that animals are not mindless or painless but that they are still a part of this world no matter how much we industrialize it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fast-paced books or books that you never know what will happen next.

Hunter Reinhart – HARRIS AND ME – Gary Paulsen – 168 pages – I loved this book because it was funny and had many adventures in the same book. It is in the Civil War and a kid from the city has to live with his cousins in the country. He and his cousin are about the same and for the summer they have to live together and work together. They started to like each other and started to have adventures. They had adventures with some of the animals and with a rooster. This book was one of my favorites and it was very funny.

Ryan Longood – THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY – Trenton Lee Stewart – 512 pages
This book is about an orphaned boy who goes through a series of mind-bending and mysterious tests. Many bizarre things go on throughout his journey, including meeting a motley team of kids like him.
This was an amazing book! It keeps you on the edge of your seat, with a lot of mysterious action going on. This is a very heavy mystery book, and you can figure out much of the plot if you pay attention to minute details. However, there is a ton of action going on at the same time. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery book.

Malcolm Ilnicky – FLUSH – Carl Hiaasen – 272 Pages
If you are looking for a good book, then you should try reading Flush. It is an exciting book about a dad who keeps getting put in jail for trying to bust Dusty Muleman for dumping sewage into Thunder Beach. His son, Noah is tired of him always being in jail, so he and his younger sister Abbey come up with a devious plan to bust him once and for all. They get a little help from a lady name Shelley, who got them onto the Coral Queen, Dusty’s boat. Their plan involved a lot of bottles of fuchsia colored dye, and to flush some toilets. Ralph is soon voted in as the leader for the group of English boys. However, a large group of choir boys want to hunt and are soon dissatisfied with their leadership. Jack Hodgson ~Sea of Monsters ~Rick Riordan ~304 pages
This book was about a boy named Percy Jackson who went to a boarding school in New York. Percy is a half-blood. That is a person whose parent is a god. Percy is always getting attacked by monsters unless he is at a special camp. I did not like this book. I didn’t like it because it was very similar to the first Percy Jackson book. It was also very predictable. I could guess what was going to come next, most of the time. I like it, but it was too much like the first one.
Pierce Walmsley – ZACH’S LIE – Roland Smith – 224
Zach’s Lie is a book about a boy named Jack whose father was caught drug trafficking. Jack was then put in the Witness Protection Program and has his whole life changed, including his name, which is now Zach. He moves to a new city, and goes to a new school. He makes only one or two friends, but he is still trying to hide from the guys trying to find him and his family. It turns out it has hard to keep his mouth closed. This was the best book I read this year.
David—TANGERINE—Edward Bloor—220 pages
Tangerine by Edward Bloor was a very good book in my opinion. Anyone in the 4th through 7th grade who likes sports (especially soccer) or books where the main character has a disadvantage (his vision is severely impaired) but still manages to pull through should definitely read this book. The main character, Paul Fisher, is used to moving for his father’s work. This time, he is moving to Florida to live in a gated community. Life goes on pretty much as normal, with Paul playing on the soccer team, and his brother showing off on the school football team. Paul continues to make friends and search for the truth of what really happened in his early childhood to impair his vision.

Flush – Carl Hiaasen
$$$ - Mason Bailey - $$$
Flush is a great novel for anyone; It is about a family trying to bust the local casino boat owner who is supposedly dumping waste into the bay. The main characters are Noah, a young man who has no fear and will stop for nothing to conquer his goals. His father who is very enthusiastic about the environment and escaped from the county jail for sinking the casino boat, and his sister who is very curious and likes to help wither asked or not. The book is very engaging and not to long and I recommend it for everyone.

Ice Drift is a good book. It is about Alika, the main character, and his little brother Sulu, also main character. Alika and Sulu are out hunting, then the ice block they are fishing on breaks and they are out to sea alone. Alika and Sulu have to work together as brothers to survive in the harsh, northern conditions. Their family gets worried, especially their mom. With a determined mom trying to save them, will Alika and Sulu survive?
The Red Pyramid
By: Rick Riordan(528 pages)
I may not have read the whole book, but my first impressions of this book are very impressive. This book reminds me a lot of the Percy Jackson series, which is also by Rick Riordan. It is like the Percy Jackson series because they are both about mythology, except the Percy Jackson series is about Greek Mythology, and The Red Pyramid is about Egyptian mythology. The book has two main characters, who switch off narrating the story, which makes the story much more interesting. I won’t give away much of the story, but what I will say is that it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Freak the Mighty
Sam Cain- Rodman Philbrick
Review on the book
Freak the Might is a very good book because it has many good and bad people and big adventures. I liked how Max (the main character) has problems in his life other than the main problem. The cool thing about the book was that Freak had a heart problem and was short; this made it Freak the Might because of a small kid and a big kid. Freak the Mighty is a very good book and I highly recommend that you read this book, and if you liked it like I did, then you should read the sequel!
H.I.V.E.: The Higher Institute of Villainous Education ~Ian Wolff
320 pages, by Mark Walden
HIVE, is one of the best action/suspense books I have read in my life! The mysteries in the book keep you guessing, and the action packed adventures pull you into the story. The main character, Otto, is such an amazing character that it would be a struggle not to wish you could have been his friend. If they ever decide to make a movie, I would be the very first one in line to see it.
HURRICANE GOLD- Charlie Higson -384 pages

The evil leader is names El Huracon and hates James. This story ends with an exciting climax and is the best book in the series so far.
Cab Tavenner- HEROES, GODS AND MONSTERS OF THE GREEK MYTHS –Bernard Evslin-224
Heroes, Gods and Monsters of the Greek Myths is a book all about Greek mythology. I didn’t really enjoy the book because it seemed like Bernard Evslin tried to stuff everything about Greek mythology into your head. Each chapter was like a segment of each different event that happened in Greek mythology. It has a chapter for each of the major characters in Greek mythology. The book confused me also because at different times of the book, the author would refer to a time really far back in the book. I also don’t enjoy mythology and it just made it more confusing for me to understand Greek mythology.
Ned Tazewell- THE MISSING MANATEE- By Cynthia DeFelice- It is 192 pages
This book is a mysterious fast paced book about a boy sees a dead manatee with a bullet hole. He goes fishing and all the fun turns into a mysterious work and he turns very curious about a friend. Then when he talks to the firend about it and everything turns out wrong.
Luke Slyder- Ender’s Game- 384
Ender’s Game is a science fiction novel written by Orson Scott Card. It is about a child genius, Ender, who has been selected to go to battle school, the military school in space that is made to train geniuses such as Ender to become efficient commanders to help protect the human race against the buggers, an insect-like intelligent race that suddenly invaded earth and began to slaughter the human race, twice. As Ender undergoes the rigorous testing and training of battle school, he realizes that what should be a safe environment is fraught with peril. While Ender struggles to tell friend from foe, the teachers struggle to understand the how Ender thinks. And all the while, the buggers continue to swarm, colonizing and growing stronger and stronger. I would recommend this book for people with patient and analytical minds, with the time to sit down and enjoy the complex plot of this book.
J.Hunter Dabney Holes (233pages)

In the beginning Stanley accidently steals a basket players shoes and he gets sent to a juvenile camp that makes him dig holes all day from dawn till dusk. Hutch the main character loves shortstop, but he is playing second because of another player playing there named Darryl who is really good at baseball. Space-time is messed up there. They soon get lost, and call upon the help of the mortal girl, Rachel Elizabeth Dare. Will they find Daedalus before Luke?
